Appeared first during the events of Sanctuary Tunguska as a mention and a disguise of Natasia came in the form of Rider.
Her history is a complicated one. Born into the Dobrynya family, Nikitich enjoyed a privileged childhood as part of the nobility gained by his dad Dobrynya after his struggle alongside Syatislav the Great against various tribes in the extremities of the Kievan Rus and her mother, who secretly practiced pagan worship under her husband's ardent Christian faith. Under her loving parents, siblings and a newly-formed community of Novgorod, Nikitich lives a relatively peaceful life in the city.
During her childhood, she has created a friendship with the future Grand Prince of Kiev, Prince Vladimir as he is tutored by his father in his home. Because of this, she have created an unbreakable bond with the wise prince, one that affects the later choices in her life.
She also has a close relationship to her mother, who retains a part of her pagan heritage as a clairvoyant and protects her everytime, often by telling her stories and nightmares of the old, warning the boy of the danger posed by the beasts of the cold. This provided a sense of imagination to the young boy, who dreamt of exploring the mysterious region to the east.
Unfortunately, this wouldn't last as his father's aggressive Christianization campaign has created friction within the mostly-pagan community, culminating in a mob riot that targeted the family. While she, her father, Konstantin and Vladimir are able to escape with non-lethal injuries, her mother and other siblings are horrifically killed by the riot, an event that changed her perspective on life.
After the shimmer dies down, the reinstated father decided to take precautions and send the brothers back to Kiev, where they are able to grow up uninterrupted from the danger of the population. There, the brothers are both trained in riding, administration, and lancing as bogatyrs for the future prince.
Eventually, Dobrynya is awarded the title of Bogatyr, and acts as a knight working under the order of Prince Vladimir. As a bogatyr, his duty is to protect the nation from various raiding parties and mythical beasts that are invading the land, a duty he has performed effectively. Dobrynya also received personal orders from the Prince, no matter how unimportant, as part of his duty. It is during this period, that he met the other bogatyrs, Ilya Muromets and Alyosha Popovich. Together, they become local legends and beloved by the whole nation for their acts of bravery against their enemies.
One day, during one of his journey, he decided to take a bath at the Puchai River, where his greatest encounter would occur.
There, standing shocked by the water of the river, a large dragon is seen besides the riverbed, unmoving of its position. Even without a weapon, Dobrynya tackles on the dragon head-on, with the training and experiences he had accrued throughout his life.
The dragon, caught by surprise, tried to resist his advances but soon after, beaten to near-death by his holy hands. Desperate for survival, the dragon made a completely audacious move; it surrendered itself, bringing Dobrynya into a shock.
"Please, I don't want to die!"
The dragon continued, begging for the human knight to draw down his attacks and ask for a pact for the sake of its children, a mother that she is.
Dobrynya, confused by the turns of events, took his time assessing the situation, comprehending the intention the dragon might have. Would this be a trick by this devious dragon? Or is that she's too weak that she resorted to this kind of desperation? Dobrynya thought for long, keeping the dragon at bay while he made his answer.
"Under one condition."
He's taking his chance with the unfamiliar dragon. Despite his dream, he knows better than to treat a clearly sentient beast with malice and hatred unless he was clearly sure of it. The dragon itself was relieved of his answer, and swear loyalty to his words.
The condition? Swear peace on her to never attack any human settlements in the Kievan Rus, especially the capital of Kiev.
Delighted by his words, the dragon also made an oath on her part. From there upon, she will be Dobrynya's little sister and guide her the human ways.
Clearly, this words put another shock to him, but he accepted it as long as the dragon didn't attacked anyone. It is at this moment as well that he knows of the dragon's name : Zmey Gorynych.
Once they made their promises, Zmey Gorynych miraculously transformed into a human form, one that resembles that of a beautiful young woman, which he could guessed is his little sister from now on.
At that moment, Dobrynya felt a wave of joy. The fact that he managed to tame a dragon of that size would be magnificent, and the idea of a new family member hit him like a brick wall. Truly, in this short moment, Dobrynya is at his happiest.
Unfortunately, just as he turned around, the girl disappeared. Confused, he could hear the flaps of wings slowly fading away to the direction of Kiev. That is when he realized the truth.
The dragon lied to him.
Angered by this inevitable betrayal, he quickly made his move to Kiev, hastening his journey in order to stop her from destroying his beloved city.
Alas, he is too late.
Kiev has been burned to the ground. With an ailing Vladimir and a stolen princess, Dobrynya went back to his journey to exterminate the dragon once and for all.
Only after an arduous journey through the Saracen Mountains, does he finally met the weirdly distressed dragon. Aiming for one last confirmation, he asked the dragon for its reasoning to betray him. Without an answer to follow, the battle finally commenced.
Strikes after strikes. Blows after blows. Dobrynya and Zmey battle it out with their greatest hits, keeping up with each other as an equal between a normal human and a great dragon. Even with his blessings, he failed to land a hit to the dragon and thus nearly fell in battle when a guidance from above encouraged him to continue fighting.
With what remains of his strength, he fought to the end and finally landed a hit on the legendary beast. Before she died however……..
"Please...forgive me…."
A voice of apology. The surviving knight couldn't respond with anything as the dragon closed its eyes, it's flames burning away the body with her blood spilling out of the fading flesh.
Without any doubt, he immersed himself into her blood, wallowing to himself as the dragon blood seeps inside him. Acknowledging the effects of his actions, he prayed to God for safety And took a deep breath as the blood began to change him fundamentally.
Eventually, the process is over and the newly-remade Dobrynya receives another revelation. This time, she pierces the bottom of the blood puddle with her holy Lance and in an instant, the accursed blood returned back to the Earth, hiding away it's mystical properties from the humans of this realm. With new found vigor and strength, she returned back to Kiev alongside with the princess and reported her success. This in turn, gave her national popularity and led to days of feast celebrating her slaying of the demonic dragon. It is during this period as well that she met her future spouse, Natasha.
Thus, her adventure continued with her fellow bogatyrs.
